长毛兔群居性差，一般是采用笼养，2月龄以上的长毛兔不论同性或是异性，群养时经常发生争咬，所以要实现一个笼一个兔。兔笼的形式分活动式和固定式两种。活动式的兔笼可以作为运输使用，一般长是60厘米、宽是55厘米、高是45厘米，分为三格。固定式的兔笼一般长是60～70厘米，宽是50～60厘米，前面笼高是40厘米，后面笼高是34厘米。

兔舍以2～3层更好，兔笼的底部要距离地面30厘米以上。兔笼的底板更好是铺设竹片，竹片宽是2.5厘米，两片之间的距离是1厘米。这样设置的话，既可以使兔粪落下来，又不夹兔脚。我还要补充一点，幼兔的时候可以一笼多养，但是在2月龄以后，公母兔应该单笼饲养。
